Torn By Fury by SM Reine.
Book 6 in the Ascension Series
Torn by Fury is the 6th book in the Ascension series, and the second last, EK!
If you know me, you know I love urban fantasy novels and SM Reine is the queen of this genre! I found her last year and I pretty much read all her books in one sitting… and she has a lot of books. If you love urban fantasy and DON’T know this author and her books, just go and start reading them. Now! They are not to be over looked.
The story of Elise and James, Rylie and Abel, captured me from the beginning. Their characters have changed dramatically throughout this series.
James finally comes to understand the person Elise has become or rather the person she has always been. But is it too late to save their relationship? (say it isn’t so…!)
Elise comes to an understanding of herself and her path in life. And maybe that place isn’t with James…
Rylie is still struggling to see the good in herself and her wolf, and reconcile with the past. Guilt and old wounds are brought back and she is forced to make decisions that go against her one rule for the pack.
Abel realizes the true strengths behind being a werewolf, and he is perfectly trained for its purpose. More than that, he thrives on it. But life never gives you something for nothing.
This book shows the realization of changes, an acceptance of others, especially where James is concerned. And (I hope) this creates path ways for love and acceptance… nawhhhh…
But don’t think this book is a sappy romance, because it has action and blood to spill.
Elise is after blood, angels blood, and she is marching into New Eden to get it. Angels have built a city out of human victims and are prepared to fight Elise and her army of werewolves and demons to keep it. New magic is discovered, old magic re-made, and there are those willing to tear the universe apart given the chance.
It’s a climactic book but it other ways just the start; many mysteries are unraveled, many created, wars are won and lost, and new ones are just starting.
I can’t believe there is only one book left. So many more adventures, places and things to discover/fight/conquer/accept/love/build/ect… so little time!
I’m so excited to read the next book (Book 7), due out later in 2014.
If this book appeals I would strong suggest starting out with the Decent series which is the first books of Elise and James. Elise and James will suck you into their world and hold you captive until the very last word, book and series. You’ll read and read, and still want more. They are a seriously bad ass duo and completely awesome. I can safely say one of the best decisions in my reading ventures was picking up Deaths Hand 11 month ago, since then Elise has never really been far from my mind or my heart.
Please, please, please, do yourself a favor and get lost in the world of Elise; Life’s too short to live it on earth.
